English introduction

"Dansk flora" is the latest work covering all approximately 1450 indigenous and naturalised pteridophytes and flowering plants in Denmark. It includes all of the native, frequently encountered crop plants and adventive flora but does not include garden escapes or other cultivated plants.

In the 2nd edition of “Dansk Flora” errors and mistakes have been corrected and a series of new species added. Additionally a few species have been omitted.

With few exceptions the family circumscription follows the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group classification (APG II; Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society 141), and the taxonomy and nomenclature have been brought up-to-date.

The 21 authors all share a keen interest in Danish nature and a common interest in public outreach. The two artists both have a long and distinguished track record of botanical illustration.
